Yesterday, I was leafing through the latest issue of the Martha Stewart magazine and came across a cookie recipe which ingredients included pine nuts and almonds. Since FG is a vegetarian who doesn’t really like nuts, I’m always trying to find ways to sneak them into her diet. Nuts are soooo healthy! Since I had pine nuts & [...]

Let There Be Light!
Posted in Miscellaneous on Thursday, 28 February, 2008 | 6 Comments »
It may be -6 degrees this morning and the ground is completely white with snow but it’s starting to feel like spring to me. Why? Because when I looked out at 6:10 this morning, it was already light out!
And in about a week, on Sunday ~ 9 March, we spring forward which will only heighten my spring fever.
Happy [...]

I’ve Officially Lost My Appetite

I find the recalled items from China disturbing but the news out of California about the Westland Meat Company makes my blood boil. The pit in my stomach after watching one of the workers ram a downed cow with a fork lift makes me beyond furious. Not only am I furious at the actual perpetrators, but [...]

I had a couple of questions about tea in my comments section so I thought I’d write here about my tea preferences. Here’s a little back-story of how I got started with tea.
My father used to drink a lot of tea. He had spent several years living in Japan and loved a good cup of tea. I didn’t drink [...]

Throwing Out My Tea…

Food (and toys) made in China, whether it be for human or canine consumption, has had a bad reputation over the last year or two. The latest is a recall of Valentine Lollipops. At first, I thought it was lead found in the lollipop but it turns out it was a piece of metal. Imagine sucking [...]

Valentine Fortune Cookie a la Martha Stewart
I read about these Martha Stewart Valentine Fortune “cookies” about a month ago, got all the supplies and then left everything in the bag until last night. About 7:00 pm, FG and I got everything out and got to work making them for her St. Valentine’s Day class party.
The [...]
Guam or Us?

We’ve had several snowdays, snow delays and lots of shoveling. Surprisingly, all three of us are enjoying the winter a lot. The snow is so pretty and makes everything look beautiful. Despite the “performance” tires we still have on the car, I’m feeling more comfortable when I drive, but my palms still get a bit sweaty when I see [...]
Travel Reading Meme

Books on the Brain tagged me for a reading meme because she wanted book recommendations for an upcoming road-trip. Unfortunately, it’s been such a crazy week and this is my first chance to reply. She’s probably already completed the trip ~
I haven’t been reading a lot. Who knew we would move to the North Country and [...]
