Has Anyone Seen My Walkman?

Since I’ve started going to the gym three days a week, I’ve noticed I’m the frumpiest dressed one there. Most of the women are wearing cute exercise pants and matching tops ~ which not only shows off their toned bodies but looks so comfortable. They don’t look like they’re on the prowl ~ they just look good.
I, [...]

Skinny Skiing

Although I had more than a few things to do around the house, I decided to join a friend on a cross-country ski this morning. We headed out about 10:30 on a trail here on Ft. Drum. 3 miles and 2 hours later, with very tired legs, a hurt knee and more than a little [...]

Double Digits!

FG turned 10 today and thoroughly enjoyed her day. There was a 2-hour snow delay and we made ice cream cone cupcakes for her classmates ~ big hit! Just before we headed out to school, balloons were delivered from Grandma B. Pink and Purple, just like the colors of her room.
Because of the delay, I [...]

Ski Season is Here

Looks like skiing is the sport of choice for both FM and FG. Yesterday, we drove the short 45 minutes to Snow Ridge Ski area in Turin, NY. The snow was great with more falling as we were there. I chose not to participate since I don’t have any of the equipment I need for [...]

Will You Be My Friend?

I feel like I’m back in grade school when I move to a new place and I’m on the lookout for an exercise partner but it doesn’t stop me from asking. I’m a firm believer in having an exercise buddy but due to my surgery and then the holidays, I haven’t asked anyone until my neighbor mentioned [...]

Gotta Keep Moving…

Here in the North Country, during the winter, you gotta keep moving or you freeze up. I’ve kept my resolution of staying active by trying new things.
I started swimming at the indoor pool here on base. While swimming isn’t new for me ~ swimming in a pool is. I much prefer the ocean to a pool. [...]

The House Feels So Empty

Grandma Betty has only been gone for a couple of hours but the house already feels so empty without her. She’s a joy to have around and so incredibly helpful. It’s always times like this that I wish family lived close and, by close, I mean within a 1 hour driving range. Don’t know if [...]

Sport is styling…

I go for warmth and comfort when I dress during the winter. It’s definitely a matter of function over fashion. Come spring and summer, I have no doubt people will ask how much weight I lost because I look so much heavier with the TONS of baggy clothes I wear to stay warm.
Thanks to my [...]

Happy New Year!

We ushered in the new year enjoying a progressive dinner with our neighbors. If you haven’t participated in a “roving” party, I highly recommend it especially if you’re able to walk from house to house. We volunteered to be the first house and, since we weren’t sure how many people would show up, we made [...]
